I am not a chef but have enjoyed cooking since I was a child and would spend many happy days with my Grandma helping her make pies, cakes and bread. I have continued the tradition with my own grandchildren and hopefully the experience will set them up for a lifetime of love with food and the desire to cook for themselves from scratch instead of eating convenience foods.
For years, whilst working in a stressful job, cooking was my salvation. Every night I would return from a long day at work, walk straight to the kitchen and prepare a meal. I could almost feel the stress leaving my body. I would cook a new recipe most days, although I do have my favourites and they would make a regular and welcome reappearance on the weekly menu. My husband, of course, loved this. The down side is that the more you cook at home, the more critical you become of meals in restaurants. Still, this is a small price to pay.
I have deliberately kept the recipes simple to encourage everyone, with all cooking abilities, to have a go. I hope you enjoy making them as much as I did but, more importantly, that you enjoy eating them. Many of the recipes are from cooking magazines, although I do tend to make my own adaptations on these. If the recipe is completely unchanged and I can find you a web version I have included the link.
Any recipes you particularly enjoy I would advice that you copy and paste to a personal document for future use. I do have to delete recipes to make room for new ones, even though some are my very best favourites.

Thanks Lynn, we’re having your pork and fennel tray bake again this evening. Yum! There are the most amazing smells coming out of the kitchen while it cooks
Glad you keep trying them Vicky.
Thanks for following my blog. I look forward to reading yours.
